DUE TO COVID-19 ALL TRAINING SESSIONS ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. WE WILL RETURN TO REGULAR TRAINING ONCE ADVISED BY THE GOVERNMENT THAT IT IS SAFE TO DO SO.
An established sport Aikido club offering Adult, University and Juniors training, up to 4 days per week. From as little as £1.70 per session, York Shodokan Aikido is one of the best value martial arts clubs in the area.
The Town club is open to all from the age of 14 (juniors will require parental permission to attend the Town sessions). We have 11 local instructors, some who have been members of the club for over 20 years.
We have an expanding student membership covering York University and York St. John University and we welcome students from the other colleges and higher-education establishments in the area. We have a student club on a Friday evening at the York University campus but we encourage students to also train with the Town club on the other days of the week. As has been proven by the current and previous Student Captains you can achieve 1st Dan Black Belt and CL1 coach level within the 3 years of your degree if you 'put the hours in' and train 3 days per week. A great personal achievement and a fantastic addition to your CVs! If you're already in year 2 or 3 of your degree then don't worry, we are part of a wider global community so you can start your training in York and continue elsewhere when you've finished your degree.
Our Juniors club is open to all from the age of 7 to 17. Only established in 2015 we already have the largest Shodokan Aikido Juniors club in the UK and we have just graded our first two juniors to Young Adult first Dan black belt. A great achievement.
Beginners are always welcome so please come along to one of our sessions to see what we do, or better still bring some comfortable clothes and a bottle of water and have a go.
